AbstractThe CIA, since its creation in the 1940s, has used narcotics as a means to fund various right-wing counter communist forces during the Cold War. This paper focuses on the Contras in Nicaragua, the Korean and Vietnam war, and the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. The research is taken primarily from historians, professors, and investigative journalists such as Gary Webb, who uncovered the CIA’s link to Contra narcotics dealers such as Norwin Meneses and Danilo Blandon. All this shows is that the CIA has, in fact, been involved in these affairs, and has effectively created a massive drug network around the globe. |
